Braces require daily care and the occasional improvement in order to get that perfect smile! While damage to your braces can be concerning or painful, it can typically be fixed within a few hours or the next day with little issue. If this happens, we have a few quick tips to help ease pain or discomfort until your office visit.

We can just get you a new one! If your wire becomes loose, apply some of your wax to the bracket to keep it secure.

Make sure to use your wax to cover the “pointy” end to help reduce irritation. If pain occurs, taking over-the-counter pain relievers can help with temporary pain relief.

Apply wax to keep the bracket secure.

Place it into a plastic bag or in a secure space and bring it with you so we can reapply it.

Add wax to secure the wire and bracket in place.

Braces are accompanied by general soreness and pain, especially within the first few days. To combat this, daily salt water rinses and over-counter pain relievers aid in temporary relief until you become accustomed to your new hardware.
